The menu offers classic Chinese-American dishes like General TSO Chicken, Shrimp Fried Rice, Mongolian Chicken, and Crab Rangoon, reflecting well-loved staples rather than adventurous or modern twists. Complimentary options like oolong tea and egg drop soup enhance the experience without adding cost, underscoring the approachable, workaday spirit of this quiet Capitol Hill fixture.

Overall, Kuang’s Kitchen works best for those who prioritize value and familiar flavors over ambiance or culinary innovation—perfect for a casual solo lunch, quick takeout, or a low-key, affordable dinner with friends. The practicality of the location and the no-frills atmosphere make it a dependable spot within this Portland neighborhood where price and portion weigh heavily on diners’ minds.

At first glance, I had my doubts, but when I saw the prices, I was blown away. Very affordable, and the portion sizes were far beyond my expectations. Must try their shrimp curry an abundance amount shrimp, not like other restaurants that skimp out on the shrimp. All in all, I will highly recommend this whole in the wall restaurant.

Food was delicious and plenty! Shrimp fried rice is so worth it. And they provide water from the water filter jug (Brita water). They also provided complimentary oolong tea and egg flower soup.

Great takeout Chinese. Quality is fine, nothing spectacular, but portions are generous and make this spot a great value. The broccoli beef was 50/50 of each. Tender beef, fresh broccoli. I also ordered the sweet and sour chicken and the sauce was on the side which was greatly appreciated so it didn’t get all soggy and I could control how much sauce went on. I will absolutely be eating here again as I was looking for a go-to Chinese takeout spot and Kuang’s fits the bill perfectly.

All this for $13.50 and soup! Panda can't touch this. Best deal around. I will go back!

This is one of just a couple of times I was planning on leaving a lower rating, and by the end of my meal, could not wait to leave 5 stars! The food wasn’t amazing and it wasn’t bad, it was average. The lady that helped us gave us free soup. When our meal was over, she hand packed our food giving us extra rice and offered white or fried to go at no charge. On the way out the door, she insisted on opening and holding the door for me. I have been to some of the finest restaurants in our country where the service pales in comparison. This place deserves your patronage and you should dine in and experience true hospitality and give them a big tip for believing so strongly in treating their guests so well. Bravo to this place. Amazing!
